There are those telling us to accept the results and begin the healing. Because the guy won the election. And he’s legally the president-elect.

Let me tell you something about “legally.”

Legally, Americans could own slaves. Legally, Americans could segregate and deny access to people who were different. Legally, women were unable to vote and considered the property of their husbands. Legally, you had to turn in a runaway slave or be charged.

This country has a long history of injustice being legal and by the books.

Those are loud and upset right now are upset at injustice. Perhaps the greatest ideal that anybody in this country has ever expressed. Anger at injustice and the drive to make the world a more just place. And historically, these people have been in the minority.

A man rode to power promising to strip rights from your neighbors. Promising to turn away your cousins. Promising to punish women for making choices about their own bodies. A man rode to power promising injustice.

And regardless of whether he arrived in power fair and square, he arrived on the promise of injustice.

And injustice is what we fight.

Knuckle up.
